Trade fair review: successful online debut for tekom

The first digital tekom is history. It was a success story for TermSolutions. As one of six gold sponsors, the company was accordingly visible in the event app. The trade fair team was on the screen on all tekom days, maintained customer contacts and was in lively exchange with colleagues and conference participants.

Virtual tool presentation: termXact and termXplorer

In previous years, the tool presentations took place at the TermSolutions booth. This time, trade fair visitors were able to have the termXplorer terminology management and termXact terminology checker demonstrated online in 30-minute videos. The Q&A afterwards was of course also included. The new termXact 2020 in particular met with great interest: With a tbx-based database connection, online check, single-user licenses and annual subscription, the upgrade offers completely new options.

Product videos: short versions on demand

If you missed the tool presentations during tekom, you can catch up on the demonstration – at the desired date: both product videos, termXplorer and termXact, are available on YouTube. TermSolutions is currently working on breaking down the long versions into “bits”. Customers can then use them on a topic-related basis – for training courses, for example. The short videos will be available on the TermSolutions website later this month.

Pandemology: Ambitious terminology project

The terminology meet-up was also a complete success: 100 interested parties exchanged information on the latest terminology topics for an hour and a half. The “Pandemology” project received a lot of attention. The platform allows terminologists to collaboratively coordinate Covid-19 terminology in a database – across national borders and continents. The SDI Munich initiative is unique internationally. The database was implemented by students of the new Translation Management course under the direction of Prof. Dr. Rachel Herwartz. Now all those involved hope that terminologists around the world will continue their work. A detailed report on the ambitious project will soon be available on the TermSolutions website.
