Online webinar “Terminology extraction – knowing how!”
The webinar emphasizes the importance of terminology work not only for terminologists, but also for editors and translators. It deals with how to quickly build up and expand an initial stock of terminology. A distinction is initially made between manual, semi-automatic and automatic terminology extraction methods. The webinar presents various commercial and open source extraction tools, explains the advantages and disadvantages of their use and discusses which extracted information is really important and should be included in the database. Furthermore, various data categories of a terminology database are examined, as well as the crucial phase of terminology research, which forms the basis for successful terminology extraction.

Online webinar “Terminology and artificial intelligence within the text creation and translation process”
The webinar is dedicated to the entry of artificial intelligence, especially through systems such as ChatGPT, into everyday life and work. It emphasizes that translators are already familiar with AI, especially through the post-editing of machine-generated texts. It is pointed out that terminology is often neglected in these systems, which creates new requirements and perspectives for the translation profession. The webinar provides insights into how neural machine translation systems such as GPTs and large language models work. It shows how these systems can influence terminology in automatic text creation and translation.
