Neural Machine Translation (NMT): New lecture for the tekom regional group in Munich

The presentation “Neural machine translation – a challenge for editing and translation“ for the tekom regional group Munich on January 24, 2022 was a complete success: 120 participants signed up for the online lecture by Prof. Dr. Rachel Herwartz from TermSolutions, in order to be able to meaningfully integrate the new AI technology of neural machine translation (NMT) into companies. The coordination process between editing and translation has become even more important.

In addition to explaining the functional principle of “deep learning“, she particularly emphasized the role of company-specific terminology, which must be integrated into the NMT in order to generate meaningful translation results.

The lecture is based on two of her articles, “Terminology in Neural Machine Translation” and “Translating with Man and Machine“, which were published in the journal “Technical Communication” in 2021 (Booklet 4 and Booklet 6).

In 2022, an article will appear in issue 3 of the magazine “technical communication”, which is particularly dedicated to cost savings and billing models for MT.
